What we do

Sage in Kenya is a registered UK charity with the specific aim of keeping girls from poor areas of Kisumu and Busia in Kenya in school during their periods, by raising funds to supply them with sanitary towels and underwear, thus helping them reach their full potential.

In 2017 we were actively engaged with 16 schools across the region, supporting over 1500 girls. Our key worker in Kenya visits the schools monthly to distribute these sanitary towels and underwear to each girl individually and to implement a structured teaching programme which engages the girls on their personal development and future health and well-being. We also offer one to one counselling where needed.

Sage in Kenya is supported in Kenya by our Non Governmental Organisation registered with the Kenyan authorities – Supporting African Girls in Education. The NGO is our delivery arm on the ground in Kenya and critical for success.

“The lack of sanitary protection during menstruation is often mentioned by girls as a barrier to their regular attendance at school.” - UNICEF
