Curry evening raises nearly £1400 for 16th school

On 13th February, the trustees and supporters of SAGEinKENYA held a curry evening at Wellspring Family Church in Dereham, serving up a selection of curries and other African delicacies such as ugali! It was hard work, but worthwhile as we raised nearly £1400 on the night and subsequently through donations. Thank you to all who supported the evening which has allowed us to take on a new school – Nyawara Primary  – now known as our "curry school!"

Nyawara Primary School is a rural school about 10 kms from Kisumu centre and 30 minutes ride on a Tuk Tuk. The school has a total of 520 students. Due to a shortage of classrooms their Class 7 of over 100 students is taught in one classroom with 2 teachers. We have agreed to help all of the girls in Class 7 and 8 for the next 2 years – 71 girls in total this year.

Could you hold an event to support the girls?
